6/4/20 Update
Dear Rochester Soccer Club and Michigan Lightning families,
We are all excited with the great news that Governor Whitmer has now rescinded the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order which moved us into Phase Four of the Michigan Safe Start Plan. Most importantly, this means that we can resume outdoor fitness, athletic practices, and training sessions but with the appropriate social distancing and safety guidelines (see the Executive Order 2020-110 (COVID-19) (June 1, 2020) link below).
This is great news for all of us as we can now start up soccer activities across the state. In response, the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) provided an update (see attached PDF link) that Return-to-Training is now permitted as early Friday June 5, 2020 (updating the originally set date of June 15th).
Based on this development, as a Club we are targeting the week of June 8, 2020 to start back with some organized training activities for Michigan Lightning. Stay tuned for upcoming guideline information regarding our Recreation and LDA modified summer and fall programs starting after July 4th. We are taking the next few days to finalize, approve, and roll out our Club Return to Training Guidelines and Protocol (R2T) policies. These will also define the formats and requirements for all the new scheduled activities at our field complex.
Upon receipt, we are requesting that parents and players review our initial Phase One of R2T policies to become familiar with what will be expected to train. As we continue to receive more guidance from MSYSA we will continue to adjust our guidelines and protocols accordingly.
We will have more information forthcoming soon. We are looking forward to finally seeing all of you in person and on a real field!
